The four budget tiers in under a minute.

A home golf simulator isn't one product. It's a stack of parts: something to hit into, something to hit off, a launch monitor, a display, and software. Tier one is just swing. A net and a basic mat. No ball data, but real reps whenever your schedule allows. Tier two adds numbers. A portable launch monitor sends your shot data to an app, and bundles package the net, mat, and monitor together. Tier three swaps the net for an impact screen and projector, so you can see the course. Tier four is the dedicated golf room, often with professional design help. The working golfer rule: buy what gets you swinging this month, and upgrade one piece at a time. Dated prices are in the full guide.

▶ How Much Space Do You Need?

Measure your room the right way.

Room size decides everything else, so measure before you shop. Start with your own swing. Take slow, full practice swings with your driver while someone watches the ceiling and walls, then add a comfortable safety margin. Then take three measurements: ceiling height right where you'll stand, width for your stance and clearance, and depth for the screen, your swing, and the launch monitor. Check each maker's published space requirements against your numbers, and protect anything in the swing arc. Safety first, then fun.
