The projector is what turns a screen into a golf course. Here's the vocabulary you need before you shop.

Key terms in plain English

Throw ratio

How far the projector has to be from the screen to make an image of a given width. "Short-throw" projectors make a large image from closer in, which helps keep the projector out of your swing path.

Mounting position

Most home sims mount the projector on the ceiling, sometimes overhead or slightly behind the hitter. Check the maker's mounting and offset guidance for the exact model.

Brightness and room light

Rooms with windows or garage light need more brightness, or a way to darken the room. Compare the maker's published brightness figures between models.

Aspect ratio

Match the projector's image shape to your screen's shape so you don't waste screen area.
